KYIV, UKRAINE, MARCH 19, 2019 -- Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont, is showing support for youth involvement in industry by becoming a collaborator for an innovative educational program. Corteva Agriscience will be a key strategic collaborator in the Agrokebety program, an initiative run by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club, based on the concept of New Faces in Agriculture.

The program includes an innovative educational program on the world’s best practices at the agrarian management faculty of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP). It is focused on the new format training for specialists, who will get a set of skills and knowledge necessary for the modern agricultural sector. Students and graduates of the agrarian higher educational institutions and specialists of other non-agriculture disciplines who want to work in agriculture can become members of the program. Some 50 participants will be selected based on an entrance examination. Corteva Agriscience representatives will be involved at every stage of preparation of the program and the education of students.

The program is the only one of its kind in which practitioners representing the leading agrarian companies in Ukraine will take part in the studying process. They will become lecturers in the projects and mentors for students, helping to form the theoretical and practical course of the educational program according to the professional requirements of the modern agrarian business. Program participants will also take part in theoretical courses and test their knowledge in practice, undertaking an internship at the mentor’s enterprise with the possibility of further employment.

“Scientific education is key to continuing important accomplishments in agriculture and food security. The world will need a new generation of researchers, agronomists, farmers and managers. Bearing in mind that agricultural specialists are getting increasingly older, Corteva Agriscience is stepping up efforts to encourage young people to take the torch”, comments Sergii Kharin, Business Leader in Eastern Europe at Corteva Agriscience and member of the Supervisory Board of the Agrokebety project.

“Corteva Agriscience’s concept New Faces in Agriculture includes support for youth that connects its future with the industry and is a cornerstone of its further development. The development of the new generation of Ukrainian farmers not only increases the competitiveness of the agriculture industry in the future but also helps guarantee food stocks in Ukraine for many years to come. Corteva Agriscience’s participation in the program confirms our goal to enrich the lives of those who produce and those who consume ensuring progress for generations to come”.

"The master's program Agrokebety is a landmark project for the agricultural sector and the entire education system in Ukraine. For the first time in the history of Ukraine's independence, leading agrarian companies have been united to raise the level of education quality in accordance with the current needs of the sector and are ready to help not only financially, but also with relevant knowledge and practical skills," says Alex Lissitsa, ideologue of the Agrokebety project, President of the Association Ukrainian Agribusiness Club and IMC General Director. “In my opinion, the project Agrokebety is a quantum leap into the future of our country's agricultural education, and I am grateful to all the collaborators and the NUBiP University for the beginning of a new era in the sector."

Candidates’ selection will begin in May 2019. Participants are required to have at least a “bachelor” level of accreditation regardless of specialty or higher educational institutions. Please click here for more information about the program.
