Anne Murphy serves as Senior Director of International Government Relations for Cargill in Washington, D.C., where she leads the U.S.-based international government relations team. In this role, Anne leads a team that works in close partnership with Cargill’s global businesses to advance the company’s strategic international business priorities. She is also responsible for leading the company’s U.S.-based government relations efforts with Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and supports Cargill’s advocacy efforts on global food security.
Anne is responsible for engaging with key international and federal stakeholders in support of Cargill’s mission to nourish the world in safe, responsible and sustainably way. Anne works across Cargill’s global businesses and functions to advance trade and investment strategies, resolve business challenges, develop new market and partnership opportunities, and foster collaboration between Cargill, government institutions and other stakeholders globally.
During her 14 years at Cargill, Anne has led strategy and projects to advance the company’s mission by advising and advocating on policy in the areas of international trade and investment, food security, environmental and social sustainability, and others. She has helped the company develop strategies to navigate global markets and build key partnerships in the United States, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.
Prior to joining Cargill in 2011, Anne managed Legislative Affairs and political fundraising for the National Turkey Federation, an association representing U.S. farmers and processors. At NTF, she represented the strategic policy interests of the association’s 300+ turkey farmer, processor and supplier members, leading the development and implementation of strategies to enhance the turkey industry’s policy and political leadership. Prior to joining NTF, she worked for a boutique lobbying firm that represented various agricultural organizations, trade associations, companies, cities and universities.
Anne began her career in Washington via the Texas A&M University Public Policy Internship Program, serving in the Rural Development Agency at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in 2007 with her B.S. in Environmental Geosciences with a focus in human-environment policy. A Texas native, she, her husband and their two children live in Bethesda, Maryland.
