Davide La Cecilia has been Italy MFA’s Special Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine since early 2023, after having served as Italian Ambassador to Ukraine (2016-2020), Diplomatic Advisor to the Italian Minister of Health during the Covid pandemic (2021-2022), and Consul General in Jerusalem (2013-2016).
Previously, he had served in Tel Aviv as Deputy Head of Mission (2005-2009) and in Tokyo as Chief of the Commercial Office (2001-2005), as well as in London (1996-1999) and Hong Kong (1992-1996). Career diplomat since 1989, he also held different positions at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Head of the Near East Office (2009-2013), Chief of Staff of the Secretary General (1999-2001) and member of the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs’ staff (1989-1992).
He holds a Degree in Political Science from the Sapienza University, Rome.
