Concurrent programming has been always considered as one of the most difficult areas of software development. The goal of the training is to show how to deal with this complexity in simple well-designed ways. It covers ideas and solutions which were invented to overcome limitations and constrains introduced by concurrency. As a result — concurrent programs should be as simple as sequential ones.
The training includes general OS architecture overview, synchronization means, locking, lock-free algorithms, debugging, and other topics.

GlobalLogic’s marathon season is at its height. Recently our team ran a marathon in Kharkiv, and last weekend 100 GlobalLogic’s athletes took part in Kyiv marathon. The majority of participants ran a 5 km distance, but a few dozens runners managed a 10-km distance, a semi-marathon and even a complete marathon distance. Find photos and results of the run.

New areas in GlobalLogic Lviv
Recently our office in the inner part of Lviv has expanded, spreading inside the left part of the business center in addition our premises in the right part. The reception has moved to the left part, and several new conference rooms opened up in the office.

GlobalLogic actively supports career fairs at various technical educational establishments of Ukraine. The company aims to assist diligent students at their career paths and attract talented youth to informational technologies industry. Particularly, GlobalLogic invites smart and initiative students to attend GL Base Camp courses. Recently we participated in Career days in Kyiv and Kharkiv and 2 events in Lviv.
JavaScript Frameworks Day 2014
GlobalLogic aims to support events, which encourage professional development of IT specialists. This is why we are glad to be a sponsor of JavaScript Frameworks Day for the second year in a row, as it is a unique conference where professionals, who work with JS technologies, share their experience.
On March 26, more than 90 mobile developers visited GlobalLogic’s office in Lviv in order to exchange their experience and knowledge of the main mobile platforms. Mobile Lviv TechTalk was featured by presentations and showcases by Vitaliy Pelekh, Mariia Sorokina, Yuriy Berdnikov, Oleksandr Kravchenko and Rostyslav Lesovyi.
On Saturday, April 12, a CodeLabs contest was held at GlobalLogic’s office in Kharkiv. Each team created and operated its own bot which moved within the playing area according to its strategy and set out bombs to destroy brick blocks and eliminate the opposing teams’ players. Anyone, regardless of experience and preferred programming language, could participate in the game.
Yuriy Koziy delivered a speech on PM Day 2014 in Lviv. Yuriy has been working in ІТ outsourcing for more than 10 years and currently manages several project teams at GlobaLogic’s Kyiv office. Yuriy has also launched his own startup with venture capital investments. The subject of Yuriy’s presentation is “Innovations in Big Corporations: a Startupper’s Experience”. In his section he spoke about the difference between project management within a startup and in an outsourcing framework, as well as about the possibilities to launch innovations in big companies.
On April 26 Testing Dojo event was held in Mykolaiv. The event was initiated by IT Club Mykolaiv and supported by GlobalLogic. This testing contest gathered young QAs, whose task was to perform functional and GUI testing of a web-site, as well as to assess it according to a range of other characteristics. All the participants have done a good job, and the winning team received nice surprises.
GL hosted 24 hrs Hackathon in Lviv Polytechnic
GlobalLogic organized hackathon for students of Lviv Polytechnic University. All participants were required to create their own programming product just in 24 hours. Many of them didn’t sleep almost 2 days to leave behind all rivals and get the prize. More details are coming soon.
Adobe Flash Platform User Group meeting in Kharkiv
Recently a 46th meeting of Ukrainian Adobe Flash Platform User Group (UAFPUG) was held in Kharkiv. Traditionally (beginning with the first meeting in 2008) the GL-club of GlobalLogic’s Kharkiv office was chosen as a gathering place. The subject of the event — "Generic Animation Format & optimization of Adobe AIR" — gathered online and offline audience.
On April 12, GlobalLogic's consultants attended an Open day at "Shag" Academy's office in Mykolaiv. Within the event we introduced our company and answered questions about GlobalLogic in Ukraine and about its Mykolaiv office, in particular. The event became an initial step on the road to informal collaboration of GlobalLogic and "Shag" Academy, aimed at finding and inviting the best professionals in Mykolaiv to GlobalLogic's projects.
GlobalLogic makes Ukraine cleaner
GlobalLogic consistently supports the concept of corporate social responsibility in its activities. In particular, it is being manifested in its caring attitude towards nature. Recently we joined Let’s do it Ukraine eco initiative to clean many public places all over Ukraine.
Easter holidays include traditional out-of-office pastime, as well as interesting activities within the company. For instance, workshops on decorating Easter eggs were held at GlobalLogic’s offices in Lviv and Kyiv, while a week before Easter Kenny the Rabbit appeared at Kharkiv’s office reception. He gave presents to the lucky ones, who found Easter eggs in the office.
