USUBC and ISOA Held Joint Webinar on U.S.-Ukraine Natural Resources and Infrastructure Economic Partnership

The webinar, held on May 13, brought together international experts and business leaders to discuss the newly launched U.S.-Ukraine economic partnership on natural resources, as well as global critical minerals landscape and Ukraine’s strategic role in diversification of global supply chain. The discussion was co-moderated by Irina Paliashvili, President & CEO of USUBC and Howard Lind, President and Executive Director of ISOA, with Nadiia Khomaziuk, Executive Director of USUBC, moderating the Q&A session.

Key topics included the alignment of U.S. and Ukrainian Governments, private sector and defense interests in the critical minerals sector, with the focus on the framework intergovernmental Agreement on the Establishment of a United States–Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, Senior Managing Director at McLarty Associates, emphasized five pillars for Ukraine’s post-war economic revival: agriculture, defense manufacturing, energy exports, mining/metallurgy and technology; LtGen USMC (Ret.) John Jansen, CEO of Advanced Technology International (ATI), addressed the importance of mechanisms such as grants, purchase commitments and loan guarantees to attract private sector investment; Irina Paliashvili, President & CEO of USUBC, outlined the legal architecture of the economic partnership; Glenn Goddard, Lead for Ukrainian Assistance and Reconstruction at Parsons Corp., highlighted Ukraine’s potential to diversify the global supply chain and rebuild its infrastructure using modern technologies; Matthew Murray, Chair of the Board of Advisors at Velta Holdings US, Inc., spoke about a new integrated industrial sustainable project to be based in Dnipro; and Nadiia Stechyshyna, Investment Director at BGV Group Management, presented key locations and highlights of development of the BGV Group’s critical minerals deposits across Ukraine.
