On April 18, 2013 in Berlin the Embassy of Ukraine to Germany in conjunction with Arzinger Law Office and the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency (EUEA) held a forum “Ukrainian Energy Day” which became a major investment event related to energy industry development in Ukraine. Almost 70 representatives of German business interested in Ukraine and its energy market attended the event.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Pavlo Klimkin opened the event, having stressed investment potential of Ukraine in the sphere of energy and renewable energy in particular.

Wolfram Rehbock, Senior Partner at Arzinger, Head of the Energy and Renewable Energy practice, Board Member of EUEA, made overview of the Ukrainian energy market, stressed potentials and investment opportunities both in traditional and renewable energy sector. Furthermore he outlined legal framework in these industries, barriers and obstacles to overcome.  

Further, Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA), gave a full picture of wind energy in Ukraine, while Georgiy Geletukha, Chairman of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, highlighted Ukrainian bioenergy market, its opportunities and obstacles yet to solve. Prior to this, the Director of External Affairs at DTEK, Alexander Tolkach, presented DTEK as a major private energy company in Ukraine.

Official part of the forum was followed by the networking cocktail during which guests and speakers had an excellent opportunity to network and socialize in an unofficial and relaxed atmosphere.
