Pavlo Byelousov Speaks at the Second Ukrainian Law School on Alternative Dispute Resolution

On June 24, 2014,Kyiv hosted the SecondUkrainian Law School on Alternative Dispute Resolution, jointly organizedby the Coordination Council of Young Lawyers of Ukraine under the Ministry ofJustice of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) and the National AviationUniversity with support of Engarde Law Firm and Students League of theUkrainian Bar Association.
The event attracted young lawyers and law students of various national highereducational institutions interested in the topic of alternative disputeresolution and, in particular, mediation. VKP’s Senior AssociatePavlo Byelousov was an invited speaker and his master class on "Advantagesof mediation in comparison with other methods of conflict resolution" gavethe participants an opportunity to ask practical questions on specified topics.
During his speech, Mr. Byelousov analyzed Ukrainian realities ofdispute resolution in the context of court / arbitration and pretrial procedure,as well as outlined the prospects for the use of mediation in Ukraine and the conditionsnecessary for the development of such an institution. In the final discussionPavlo concluded that "the maincomponent of mediation success is and will remain the maturity of the companyand its awareness of such an instrument to resolve the dispute, as well as thewillingness of the parties involved to find a mutually acceptable solution andexecute it."
