CMS is happy to announce the publication of its new guide called “10 things every insurer should know”.

The aim of this publication is to provide an informative introduction to the key areas of concern for an insurer when considering establishing operations in Central and Eastern Europe, including in Ukraine. Whilst we do not set out the definitive requirements for an insurer wishing to gain a foothold in the region, this guide serves as a backdrop against which CMS can offer a cohesive and commercially realistic solutions based approach to expanding your operations.

In particular,  the publication covers the following 10 aspects in each CEE jurisdiction: introduction on how to enter the market, defining insurable interest, calculation of premiums, consequences of misrepresentation and/or non-disclosure, consequences of late notification, requirements regarding loss-adjusting proceedings, entitlement to raise a claim against an insurer, policy triggers with respect to third party liability insurance, and reinsurance regulations.

Adam Mycyk, Partner, Head of the Insurance sector group of CMS Cameron McKenna in Ukraine comments: “We are happy to share our know-how on how to establish and successfully run insurance businesses in Ukraine and other CEE jurisdictions, and hope that the publication will be helpful to all market players.”
