Ukrainian News Agency, Kyiv, Ukraine, Dec 20, 2010
KYIV - The AeroSvit airline (Kyiv) has expanded its fleet of Boeing 767 long-haul airplanes by one to four. Serhii Kutsyi, the deputy director general in charge of public relations at the AeroSvit airline, announced this to Ukrainian News. "The plane landed in Ukraine in early hours of Saturday, December 18," according to Kutsyi.
The airline got the new plane in operational leasing like the previous three Boeing 767, according to Kutsyi. According to the press service of AeroSvit, the cabin of the new Boeing 767-300ER is divided into two classes: a business class with 18 passenger seats and an economy class with 231 passenger seats. The airline has put it into operation already: on December 20, the plane took off to Delhi to arrive in Ukraine on December 21, he added.
According to AeroSvit, this aircraft will enable the company to increase the number of its transcontinental flights to New York (United States) to six per week and Bangkok (Thailand) to seven per week in addition to the increase of the number of its flights to Beijing (China) to four per week.
In addition, the company's long-haul airplanes will be used on regular flights to Toronto (Canada) and New Delhi in winter 2010 as well as for the MIBS Travel tour operator's charter flights from Kyiv to Punta Cana (Dominican Republic).
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, AeroSvit recently signed an agreement with the Boeing company (United States) on lease of four Boeing 767-900ER airplanes in the period of 2013-2014. AeroSvit is one of the largest passenger airline companies in Ukraine.
It operates on more than 70 international routes with an aircraft fleet consisting of 13 medium-haul Boeing 737s and four long-haul Boeing 767s (including the one it acquired on December 18).
Gilward Investments B.V. (Netherlands) owns 37.96% of the shares in AeroSvit, which is a closed joint-stock company, the HenAvia Invest company (Dnipropetrovsk) owns 25%, and the state owns 22.394% (managed by the State Property Fund).
According to the "Top 100 Ukrainian Business Leaders" ranking, AeroSvit Airlines was the largest airline company in Ukraine in terms of net revenues (UAH 3.11 billion) in 2008.
