KYIV - ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, an ore-mining and metallurgical integrated works based in Dnipropetrovsk region, on August 2 appointed Rinat Starkov acting director-general, Ukrainian News has learned from a copy of a statement made by the enterprise. According to the statement, Starkov will be acting director-general until a general shareholder meeting approves him in this position.
Before, Starkov was a member of the board at Mondi Europe & International (Vienna, Austria), an integrated packaging and business paper producer, where he was responsible for the CIS markets, logistics and supplies, and before this he had chaired the board of directors at Mondi Business Paper Syktyvkar LPK, one of Russia's major paper and pulp manufacturers.
Starkov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, specialty International Economy, and also got an MBA degree at Clemson University, United States. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih dismissed director-general Jean Jouet in July 2010. Jouet had worked as the director general of the enterprise from January 2008.
Preliminary data, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih finished 2009 with a loss of UAH 120.026 million, having reduced its net revenue by 34.85% or UAH 7.703 billion to UAH 14.4 billion over 2008.
Mittal Steel Germany GmbH owning 94.6456% in the company is part of the ArcelorMittal multinational holding. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is Ukraine's biggest rolled steel producer specializing in long-length rolled steel production, in particular, the production of iron rods and rebars.
