To present Austria as an attractive jurisdiction for doing business as wellas for investment and business restructuring, Arzinger Law Office jointly withABA (Austrian Business Agency) and the Austrian companies BINDER GRÖSSWANGRechtsanwälte GmbH and Interbilanz held a seminar on Business Platform Austria– your Base in the European Union. This seminar was a part of series of eventsaround ukrainian cities that this time took place in Lviv on 23 October.
The continuing economic crisis and the complexity of the businessenvironment in Ukraine have forced many owners to review their existingstructures to find better solutions in the area of property relations andcorporate governance as well as new mechanisms for financing business andoptimizing the tax burden.
To address their problems many Ukrainian companies have chosen to set upcorporate structures in foreign jurisdictions, such as Austria, the Netherlandsor Great Britain.
In this respect Austria, being an investment-friendly destination, withsolid and well-developed legal and tax framework and proposing attractiveconditions for those who choose it as place of business and long-term stay,attracts increasing interest and attention.
The workshops was of great interest for business community of WesternUkraine. The presentation “Legal and practical aspects of corporate structuringunder Austrian jurisdiction: Ukrainian Context” delivered by Pavlo Khodakovsky,partner at Arzinger, was one of the most remarkable ones for the audience.Pavlo spoke about the prerequisites for corporate business structuring in foreignjurisdictions, the advantages of Austria as a holding jurisdiction, theUkrainian-Austrian Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation etc., so that theparticipants could appreciate the benefits of the Austrian jurisdiction.
The seminar was attended by owners of mid-sized and large companies, CEOsand CFOs of appropriate business structures as well as heads of legal ofUkrainian companies.
