On February 10, 2012 Arzinger Law Office held a seminar for automotive industry representatives in the press center of Interfax-Ukraine. The seminar held by Arzinger’s senior associate Oleksander Plotnikov was focused on the topical issues of personal data processing and registration.

During the seminar Oleksander Plotnikov outlined the main requirements of the Law of Ukraine On Personal Data Protection and the practical aspects of its implementation as applied to the automotive industry.

Oleksander Plotnikov paid particular attention to the preparatory work that the companies should do to organize effective work for the protection and processing of personal data. He described step by step the stages of the preparatory work, including the identification of the types, number, contents, purposes, etc. of personal data bases, as well as itemized the internal documents which companies should develop according to the requirements of the new law.

Mr. Plotnikov drew the participants’ attention to the controversial provisions of the law and the cases in which compliance with the law requirements can be contrary to other legislative acts.

At the conclusion of the seminar Oleksander Plotnikov gave a number of practical recommendations regarding the preparation for personal data registration and answered the questions from the audience.
