On February 26 Arzinger Law Office held a business breakfast “Taxation in Agroindustry: Trends 2013”. The business breakfast launched a series of Arzinger’s events on the most important legal issues in agroindustry. The event was attended by owners, managers, and heads of legal of large and mid-sized Ukrainian and international companies operating in the field of agriculture.

Arzinger regularly organizes thematic workshops in the form of business breakfasts on topical issues of different practice areas and industries. The event, being the first in the series, was of great interest for agroindustry representatives and highlighted the relevance of issues presented by Arzinger experts.

Svitlana Yazykova, senior associate at Arzinger, spoke about the major changes in tax legislation relating to agricultural companies in 2013. Her presentation revealed problems of income tax, VAT, average prices, and transfer pricing. She told about VAT calculation in 2013, explained the procedure for administration of income tax pre-payment, as well as how losses of previous periods would be taken into account.

Natalia Martyniuk, attorney-at-law and senior associate representing Arzinger’s litigation practice, focused on the current practice of tax and judicial authorities regarding agribusiness.

The business breakfast was concluded by the report Andriy Selyutin, counsel at Arzinger, Head of the South Ukrainian Branch, who delivered his presentation “Tax Aspects of Payment for Land in 2013.” Andriy focused on land lease registration, lease payment adjustment and possible changes in tax legislation. He also spoke in detail about problems and peculiarities of including lease payments in the costs.
