In early 2012 a new of Counsel Lana Sinichkina joined the team of Arzinger. Her working at the firm will strengthen the pharmaceutical, antimonopoly and competition law practices. She will also be engaged in the IT, Cosmetics, Food & Beverages industries.

Lana Sinichkina’s education and expertise speak well for her professionalism. She graduated from Kyiv Institute of International Relations at T. Shevchenko Kyiv National University, major in international private law.

Lana’s experience in the legal field is over 9 years. She worked for the legal firm JurService Consulting Company, Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. Lana held the position of the head of foreign trade and forensic work support department at the managing company Nemiroff and of the managing partner at Lukowisc Swierzewskiy & Partners (Ukrainian Office). In September 2009 she became head of the legal department at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ukraine and GlaxoSmithKline Consumers Healthcare Ukraine.

Lana Sinichkina is fluent in English, Russian and Ukrainian and keeps mastering her knowledge of German, Italian and French.

“We are very happy that our cooperation with Lana during her work at GSK has grown into her joining our team. We have long thought about the need to hire a professional lawyer with experience in a global pharmaceutical company to meet to a greater extent the needs of our clients – international and local companies in the said industry. However, due to the fact that the establishment of own legal functions is quite a rare thing at Ukrainian offices of international pharmaceutical companies it has taken us a long time to find a suitable candidate. Healthcare and pharmaceuticals industry is one of Arzinger’s strategic areas, so we confidently invest in the development of know-how in this sector. Our clients have optimistically welcomed the news about Lana’s joining us, as it is very important for a business to speak the same language with a lawyer, and this is exactly the service that we render. Our team has set serious and ambitious goals, and I am sure that with Lana’s support we will manage to faster reach the desired result and considerably increase our market share,” Timur Bondaryev, managing partner and head of healthcare and pharmaceuticals practice at Arzinger commented.

On her part, Lana Sinichkina gave the following comment regarding the said change in her professional life: “My transfer to the of-counsel position in legal consulting is certainly a step ahead for me. In this case I will be able to make my contribution to protecting and supporting the whole sector rather than a single company. The choice of the said branches (pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food industry (alcoholic beverages)) has predetermined my professional experience. Over the past few years I have been building and developing legal functions at large companies, being responsible for legal matters of any kind, and taking part in the construction / modification of business processes of these companies. The sectors I have chosen are among the most heavily regulated, complex and rapidly changing ones in Ukraine and all over the world. This is what makes my job interesting. I am sure that this experience and expertise in the mentioned industries will help me make a significant contribution to the development of these practices at Arzinger. In addition, knowing from the inside how a major national and international business is structured and operates allows me to offer new approaches and ideas to clients in order to improve efficiency and provide business-oriented legal advice. My specialization in antitrust and competition law is also very relevant and useful for customer support in the said industries, since these sectors are highly competitive and susceptible to increased regulation and competition authorities’ monitoring. As head of the legal function at the Ukrainian office of a global pharmaceutical company and by virtue of the office I had to deal with a lot of legal advisers on a daily basis. I was always pleasantly impressed by my colleagues from Arzinger, who were notable for their flexibility, creativity and deep understanding of the pharmaceutical sector, as compared with their competitors. It was very important for me to receive from Arzinger colleagues timely and quality advice in any area of our business – whether relating to IPR, tax, antitrust, labor law or to criminal law. My peers from Arzinger helped me helped me cope with major challenges in the regulatory field, competition law, as well as provided support in critical trials. That is why, when I decided to leave the company and go into private legal business, I had no doubt as to what kind of a team of professionals I would like to join. I clearly understand and know how Arzinger’s team works, in what areas Arzinger has been developing and how the legal market operates in general, and I clearly see my part in achieving the set goals.”
