Asters successfully defended an alliance of leading Ukrainian importers and their Belarusian suppliers in anti-dumping investigation into imports of plywood originating from Belarus to Ukraine.
Asters' team secured the lowest individual duty for the Belarusian suppliers compared to the country-wide duty – 25.71% vs. 41.35%. The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade also excluded several product varieties from the product subject to the anti-dumping duty, namely plywood 3 and 4 mm. Due to deep involvement of Asters' clients into the investigation and substantial market research conducted by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the investigation lasted 18 months. During this period the importers conducted their business in the ordinary course.
Asters' International Trade team working on the project consisted of associates Tetiana Bebik and Yelyzaveta Herasymchuk, counsel Olesia Kryvetska led by partner Alexey Pustovit.
Asters is the largest law firm in Ukraine with offices in Kyiv, Washington D.C., London and Brussels. Chambers Europe 2020 recognizes 21 lawyers of Asters – the largest number of the renowned practitioners in a single Ukrainian law firm.
