Baker & McKenzie Contributes to EBRD Report on Preparing for Emissions Trading in Ukraine

Kyiv, Ukraine, 1 July 2015 –Baker & McKenzie acted as legal advisor and contributed to the Ukrainesection of the Report on the Preparedness for Emissions Trading in the EBRDRegion (PETER project). The PETER project was led by Thomson Reuters PointCarbon and included two phases: conceptual analysis and overview of emissionstrading systems globally and in the EBRD region and parallel country-specificassignments.
The PETER project aims to help the government of Ukraineestablish domestic emissions trading schemes, understand the costs and benefitsof domestic cap-and-trade regimes, analyze cap-and-trade options, and thecriteria needed to link any domestic emissions trading scheme with otheremissions trading schemes such as the EU Emission Trading System. The projectwill identify potential options for implementation of domestic cap-and-tradeschemes and linking them with external schemes.
The Kyiv team working on this project was led by Partner Ihor Olekhov withsupport from associates Victoria Ischenko, Hanna Shtepa and Ganna Smyrnova.
