Kyiv21 May 2012DLA Piper held a seminar "Introduction to LMA style loan documents".

The participants of the event discussed recent changes in the standard form of Loan Market Association (LMA) loan agreement, its structure, the main conditions protecting both borrowers and lenders, the negotiation of provisions, and other practical issues.

The seminar was led by Martin Navias, Of Counsel, an English qualified lawyer with over 10 years of experience, dealing with English law loan documentation.  Oleksandr Kurdydyk, Partner and Head of Finance & Projects in Ukraine, and Illya Muchnyk, Legal Director, commented on practical implications of LMA loan documentation in Ukraine.

The seminar attracted attention of major Ukrainian banks and companies which already use the standard form loan documentation to attract different types of financing and those who only consider use of such documentation in future.

"Due to globalization and integration of world economies, more and more Ukrainian companies play at the international level and borrow funds in the foreign markets.  In this context, they have to play by international rules.  We have an extensive experience of work in Ukraine, as well as access to DLA Piper's global resource, hence, we have been happy to share it at the event.  We hope that we have provided Ukrainian businesses with useful and profound information about opportunities to raise funds from international sources and technical specifics of such borrowings," - says Oleksandr Kurdydyk.

The seminar was organized with the support of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC).
