Kyiv - 25 September, team of DLA Piper's Kyiv office held a seminar "Trusts: perfect vehicles for effective asset management and inheritance planning". The seminar was held within the frames of DLA Piper Clients Discussion Club and targeted owners of Ukrainian businesses utilising overseas holding structures and looking for protection and management of their assets abroad as well as inheritance planning.
During this complimentary seminar which gathered around 40 people and welcomed existing and potential clients of DLA Piper, the team introduced the guests to the concept of trust and explained its peculiarities, as well as current mechanisms to use trust instruments for assets protection. The invited speakers from Harney Westwood & Riegels (a leading international offshore law firm providing legal services relating to British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cyprus and Anguilla law) gave a specific expertise about VISTA trust, which is the most flexible trust instrument, from the British Virgin Islands.
The speakers included Marina Bychkova, Associate, Corporate, DLA Piper (Kyiv), Clare Titcomb, Senior Associate, DLA Piper (Kyiv), as well as Colin Riegels, Partner at Harney Westwood & Riegels.
The seminar was supported by the US-Ukraine Business Council.
