London - DLA Piper has been named European Mid-Market Law Firm of the Year at the Financial Times and Mergermarket European M&A awards on 8 December 2011.

The event saw DLA Piper beat off tough competition from Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Linklaters to win the mid-market legal adviser of the year award.

Mergermarket M&A deal value and volume data was used to draw up a shortlist of firms that were then invited to make submissions. The independent judging panel of M&A experts assessed the data against criteria that included the strategic nature, complexity, financing requirements and groundbreaking or novel nature of the deals to decide upon the winners.
