Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & PartnersUkraine sponsors the team of the Institute of International Relations at TarasShevchenko National University of Kyiv, which will represent Ukraine at theWhite & Case International Rounds of the 2014 Philip C. JessupInternational Law Moot Court Competition. The International Rounds will be heldin April 6-12 2014, at the Capitol Hilton Hotel, Washington, DC, USA.
The National Round took place on 14-16February 2014 at the Higher Commercial Court of Ukraine. In the finalround, the team of the Institute of International Relations at Taras ShevchenkoNational University of Kyiv became the National Champion Team and was qualifiedto represent Ukraine at the prestigious International Rounds.
2014will be the 55th year of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot CourtCompetition. Jessup is the world's largest moot court competition, withparticipants from over 600 law schools in more than 90 countries. TheCompetition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before theInternational Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. Oneteam is allowed to participate from every eligible school. Teams prepare oraland written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions ofthe case. Thousands of law students from around the world will work all yearlong on the season's Jessup Problem,which for 2014 concerns the conflictbetween maritime development and conservation, criminal jurisdiction andmaritime salvage rights. The winning team will take home the White & CaseJessup Cup.
