Kyiv, 21 June 2013: The finalist to represent Ukraine in Ernst & Young’s third consecutive international competition “Young Tax Professional of the Year” has been selected. This award allows successful students, who are chosen from more than 30 countries, to participate and demonstrate their tax technical and professional skills.

8 finalists, who were challenged both on their technical abilities and wider commercial strengths, were selected from among more than 130 registered contestants. This year’s Ukrainian winner is Borys Ulanenko, graduate of Kyiv School of Economics.

The Ukrainian jury included not only partners and managers of Ernst & Young’s tax practice, but also influential members of the tax community from academia: Anna Kotina and Marina Stepura, professors of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman.

Borys Ulanenko, the winner of the Ukrainian stage: “Young Tax Professional of the Year gives an opportunity not only to get familiar with tax consulting practice and try yourself as professional consultant, but also to expand your network and immerse yourself in business world. I consider the time spent on championship preparation and participation as one of the best investment in my life, and I am sure about the fact that this investment would generate great return during my entire professional career”.

Borys Ulanenko will take part in the international finals to be held by Ernst & Young in August 2013 in Copenhagen, Denmark with the 67th International Fiscal Association Congress. Successful country finalists, who are chosen from more than 30 countries, will have the chance to work closely with a diverse range of professionals. They will be challenged with case studies and interviews before expert judges, who will be looking for evidence of creative and analytical strengths, as well as practical skills. That panel will then confirm the three winners of the Young Tax Professional of the Year Award.

The finalists will be invited to a prestigious awards ceremony where – after a review of everyone’s performance throughout the competition – the winners will be announced.
