WASHINGTON, D.C. - Frishberg & Partners, an independent full-service law firm, based in Kyiv, Ukraine since October 1991, has been approved for membership in the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), the USUBC executive committee announced today on behalf of the entire USUBC membership of over 115 companies and organizations who have business operations, investments or other development programs in Ukraine. 

Frishberg & Partners attorneys, with nearly 20 years of hands-on experience in Ukraine, can offer extensive practical expertise to resolve virtually any legal problem.  The firm regularly publishes legal and political briefing papers on its website, as well as its comprehensive 650+ page legal reference guide "Doing Business in Ukraine," which covers legal and practical issues that all international companies face working in Ukraine.

NEW PRACTICE AREA
Frishberg & Partners has recently established a new practice area, which will assist international companies in setting up Ukrainian operations.  The services include accurate political and economic analysis, identifying strategic partners and acquisition strategies, screening and evaluating viable investment opportunities, preparing and establishing a presence in Ukraine, due diligence and anti-trust compliance, government and media relations, among others.

ALEXANDER PASKHAVER is a world-recognized expert in privatization matters. Education: Ph.D., Institute of Economy of the Academy of Science of the USSR, Moscow (1972). Professional Affiliations: Advisor on Economic Policy to the President of the Ukraine and former Consultant to the Ukrainian State Property Fund; editor-in-chief of the bulletin “The Ukrainian Economic Monitor”. Languages: Russian and Ukrainian.
 
AMBASSADOR ROMAN POPADIUK was the first U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine.  He served in 1992-1993.  He has successfully supported U.S. companies and individuals exploring various business opportunities worldwide.  Ambassador Popadiuk served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Press Secretary for Foreign Affairs under President George H. W. Bush, a position he also held toward the end of President Ronald Reagan's administration.  He is a retired member of the Senior Foreign Service and has received a number of awards, including the State Department's Superior Honor Award and the Meritorious Honor Award.
 
ALEX FRISHBERG
 is a lawyer with Frishberg & Partners. He was admitted in 1988 to the Pennsylvania Bar and in 1990 to the District of Columbia Bar. Education: University of Missouri, St. Louis (B.A., 1985); Washington University School of Law (J.D., 1988). Practice Areas: Mergers and Acquisitions, Joint Ventures, Real Estate, Privatization. Membership: District of Columbia Bar, American Bar Association; Chairman, Legal, Government Relations and Economic Committee, American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, 1992-1995 and 1999.
