Harmonization of Principles of Customs Control over Movement of IP Objects between CIS Countries
Asters Law Firm, Kyiv, Ukraine, 6 September 2012
The 56th conference of the Council of Heads of Customs Authorities of the CIS member states was held on 5-6 September 2012.
During the conference the State Customs Service of Ukraine together with the Federal Customs Service of Russia raised a question of signing a new Protocol on Unified Principles of Customs Control over Movement of IP Objects. After discussions, the Protocol was signed by the representatives of the customs services of CIS countries. The document is aimed at unification of customs procedures within the CIS, since over the previous years legislation on this subject matter has been considerably changed in member states. Since Ukraine and more recently Russia have joined WTO, other CIS countries also faced a need to harmonize their national approaches to customs control over movement of IP objects with those of WTO.
