On November 30, 2011 Donetsk hosted the I East-Ukrainian Intellectual Property Rights Forum, organized by the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) and the Ukrainian National Committee of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine). The Donetsk Chamber of Commerce, the Research Institute of Intellectual Property of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine and the Research Centre for Forensic Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice acted as co-organizers of the event.

At the conclusion of the Forum, Oleksandr noted that the event was very successful, and that the high interest on the part of practitioners and the public authorities demonstrated the need to discuss and find common ground on key issues of protecting intellectual property (IP).

In particular, the main topics, which were brought up by the Forum, focused on the specificity in legal due diligence and valuation of IP rights in the industry (IP Due diligence and IP Intelligence), the detection of violations of intellectual property rights and methods to combat them, as well as international experience in fighting counterfeiting .
