NaUKMA Library received a generous donation of over 2000 books that significantly enrich its Polish Collection. Arranged through the assistance of Dr. Olya Hnatiuk, NaUKMA history professor and Polish diplomat, and Dr. Danuta Sosnovska, specialist in Slavistics , the valuable collection comes from the collection of the library of Andzej Mandalian and Joanna Rapacka.

Andzej Mandalian (1926-2011) was a renown Polish poet and translator. Joanna Rapacka (1939-2000) was a Polish researcher, essayist and Slavist. She was the author of numerous books on Croatian and Serbian culture.



Kyiv-Mohyla’s Library includes 13, 162 books in its Polish collection. Approximately 300 o of these are located at the Kyiv-Mohyla Center of Polish and European Studies.

The Center for Polish Studies was established at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in 1996. With the generous assistance of the Embassy of Poland in Ukraine, the Center was renamed and reopened in 2007 as the Center of Polish and European Studies. Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of Poland attended the opening ceremonies at the new Center. The director of the Center is Olena Betliy.
