Led by Dean Andriy Meleshevych, the Law School has demonstrated remarkable achievements since its founding.  Dr. Meleshevych received his doctorate in law at the Kyiv National University Law School in 1984,and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University in 1998.  He has a long list of publications and has been a key advisor on legal matters in Ukraine, including reform in education, human rights and constitutional issues.
Despite financial pressure from the Ministry of Education in the last two years, the Law School is transitioning to a three-tier system of education (Bachelor, Master, Ph.D.), which corresponds to international standards.  The curriculum is designed to meet Ukrainian legal requirements and Western standards of higher education as well.  Students and graduates participate in internships and study abroad at the master's and doctoral levels, and take part in international competitions.

Graduates of the law school find work in prestigious Ukrainian and international law firms, in major corporations, in government positions, in educational institutions and as founders of their own law firms. Employers are interested in hiring lawyers with degrees from Kyiv-Mohyla Academy because in addition to the excellence of their legal education and their participation in international programs, they also speak English and other foreign languages.

Among the successful alumni of the law school are DmytroKotlar, who served as deputy Minister of Justice during the presidency of Victor Yushchenko, Andriy Stelmachuk, partner of the Law Firm VasylKisil and Partners, Iryna Tymchyshyn, partner in the London office of the Law Firm Bryan Cave LLP, and many others.

In addition to a rigorous legal curriculum, the program includes the following projects:

• Legal Clinic -  where students, together with faculty members,  provide free legal assistance to individuals and legal entities.
• Moot Court – a designated room for simulated court proceedings, including the appearance of a real court room,  where mock trials take place and prominent guest attorneys and faculty members participate with students.  Such training includes the areas of civil, criminal, commercial, administrative, constitutional and procedural law.
• Center for Legal Education– a program that carries out research, analyzes and summarizes the results, and implements innovative educational methods and techniques in the learning process that are shared with other educational institutions of Ukraine.
• Forensic Laboratory - for the study and use of the most advanced technology and skills in the tactics of investigating crimes.
• Legal Library- a separate library within the structure of the Kyiv-Mohyla Research Library, including an electronic catalog, access to Ukrainian and international information and data bases, and conditions suitable for research for students and faculty members.
• "Law in Germany" -  Summer School Program - jointly organized in 2007 by the Kyiv-Mohyla Law School and the German School of Law, founded by Heidelberg University, University of Mainz and the Jagiellonian University in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Despite the pressures from the Ministry of Education during the last few years, admission to the  Kyiv-Mohyla Law School is highly competitive.  The number of applicants increases annually and the school is considered the most competitive in Ukraine.  Because of transparency in the selection process for admissions, the Law School accepts the best students from all regions of Ukraine and provides an equal opportunity to students from poor families and from villages.

The success of students who achieve the highest placements and awards in Ukrainian and international academic events, projects and competitions is a testament to the school’s academic performance.  Kyiv-Mohyla Law School students repeatedly are selected as winners in nationwide and international competitions, such as the Ukrainian Students Olympiad on Law, the contest "Student of Kyiv", "Telders International Law Moot Court Competition", and "Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition ", and at Ben Court International Competition for Students of Public International Law  held in The Hague (Netherlands).

The Kyiv-Mohyla moot court teams repeatedly win the Ukrainian national rounds of the Jessup International Moot Court competition and they represent Ukraine in Washington D.C., where each year they placed in the top 20 teams from 70 countries worldwide.  It is a remarkable honor under any circumstances, but more so considering this and other international  competitions are conducted in English.

The Law School’s faculty includes renowned and distinguished legal experts, educators and academics. Prominent researchers, judgesand law practitioners are invited to lecture.  Many members of the faculty have been trained abroad in leading universities in the United States, Canada, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany, Poland and Hungary.  There is a growing number of courses in international law taught in English, including the  Master’s program "Problems of European Law".   Prominent lecturers include A.
