On November 14-15, 2012, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), which is the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community and resource, assembled over 350 leading practitioners in data protection from across the entire world for the focused discussion and networking at the IAPP Europe Data Protection Congress in Brussels, Belgium.

The Congress had extensive programme that included the popular Conversations in Privacy Series, and over thirty top-notch breakout sessions. Plus, the delegates had the possibility to hear the presentations by from Jan Philipp Albrecht, Member, European Parliament, Sophie in’t Veld, Member, European Parliament, Jacob Kohnstamm, Chairman, Article 29 Working Party, Françoise Le Bail, Director General for Justice, European Commission, and Brendon Lynch, CIPP/US, Chief Privacy Officer, Microsoft Corporation.

Mr. Podolyak was the only delegate from Ukraine and CIS region. “European privacy legislation is constantly developing and the proposed General Data Protection Regulation is the key oncoming document. The Regulation will have a significant impact on business. In particular, business will need to increase the resources contributed to the privacy compliance. Upon adoption of the Regulation, Ukrainian legal framework is likely to be reformed as well.
