WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National University Kyiv Mohyla Academy (popularly known as Kyiv Mohyla Academy) will hold its first fundraiser and silent auction on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in Kyiv, Ukraine to raise funds for the restoration of the historic landmark known as the Old Academic Building, which was originally built by Hetman Ivan Mazepa in 1698-1702. 
 
You are invited to the special event which will take place at 18:30- 21:00 at the University’s Undergraduate Library, known as the Omelan and Tetiana Antonovych Library of the National University of Kyiv‐Mohyla Academy, at vul. Skovorody, 2 in Kyiv. Regular tickets are priced $180 USD and VIP tickets are priced $250 USD. 
 
UNIVERSITY'S RESTORATION PROJECT
The fundraiser on January 19, 2011, is the first of various programs which will be dedicated to the university’s Restoration Project that is planned to culminate in 2015 to mark the 400th anniversary of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.  Kyiv Mohyla Academy has launched a campaign to restore the historic architectural complex located at the Kyiv Mohyla Academy campus supported by the The Kyiv Mohyla Foundation of America, Chicago, Illinois, a member of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC).
 
The fundraising event will include a reception, entertainment program, silent auction and a VIP tour of the facilities led by Dr. Vyacheslav Briukhovetsky, who re-established the university in 1992 and serves as the university’s honorary president and chairman of the Board of Trustees, and by the university’s president Dr. Serhiy Kvit. 

The program will also include the premier of the live performance of the recently recorded new version of the Ukrainian carol “Shchedryk”, internationally known as “Carol of the Bells”, by renown singer Oleh Skrypka and his unique ensemble of musicians. 
 
Recognition of support includes various categories that will honor donors according to levels of contribution. 

DONATION RECOGNITION LEVELS
Depending on the donation, recognition levels will include a listing in perpetuity of the donor’s name on the appreciation wall of the building, naming a room in the donor’s name, certificate of recognition as a distinguished member of the Kyiv-Mohyla Brotherhood (a historic organization of leading historic figures), inclusion of the donor’s name in the Kyiv Mohyla Academy Benefactors Registry, listing on the university’s web-site with a link to the donor’s website, display of the donor’s name or company banner during the opening ceremony, listing of the donor’s logo in all promotional materials, a number of tickets to the event and other features or other forms of recognition. 

Donor levels for the January 19 event are $20,000, $10,000, $5,000 and $1,000 USD.  There are also advertisement opportunities in the Restoration Campaign Project brochure. 

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE 
The fundraising committee consists of the following individuals: Myroslav Popovych, renown member of the Academy of Science of Ukraine; Vasyl Kysil, founder and senior partner of the Law Firm Vasyl Kisil and Partners; Volodymyr Lavrenchuk, country representative of Raiffeisen Bank;  Ivan Malkovych, poet, publisher, owner of the publishing house "A-BA-BA-GA-LA-MA-GA"; Pavlo Gudimov, musician, art collector, owner of the art center and gallery “Ya”; Marta Farion, attorney, president of Kyiv Mohyla Foundation of America; Lilia Pustovit, well-known fashion designer and artist; Morgan Williams, Director, Government Affairs, Washington Office, for the SigmaBleyzer Private Equity Investment Management Group, who serves as President of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) and Courtney Zukoski, director of academic and social responsibility of Microsoft Ukraine. 
   
Historically, the Academy has been Ukraine’s most respected center of higher learning.  It is known as the university that educated the most prominent religious, political and cultural figures through centuries.  The Kyiv Mohyla Academy, Kyiv, Ukraine, was founded in 1615, and after centuries of suppression, it was re-established in 1992.
