On May 16, 2014 the acting Prosecutor General of Ukraine Oleg Makhnytsky officiallyintroduced Vitalii Kasko as Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Given theexpertise and experience of Vitalii Kasko in the international legal field, oneof the work areas entrusted to him will be the issues of international legalcooperation.

VitaliiKasko’s joining Arzinger as a partner significantly strengthened the dedicatedteams of lawyers focusing on white collar defense and representation at theEuropean Court of Human Rights. In view of Vitaly Kasko’s extensive experiencein the above areas as well as his good reputation on the market, Arzingerobtained quite valuable additional expertise required for the relevant type ofproceedings.

Vitaliistarted his career in 1998 as an investigator in Lviv District Prosecutor’sOffice. Later on he worked as a senior investigator and deputy chiefinvestigator of the Prosecutor’s Office in Lviv region, investigatedsuccessfully and led the investigation in complex white collar and corruptioncrimes. In early 2002 he was transferred to the Prosecutor General’s Office ofUkraine, where he worked first as a senior prosecutor and then headed theinternational legal department.

Prior tojoining Arzinger Vitalii gained considerable experience of defense inespecially complex criminal proceedings, criminal assets recovery, andrelations with law enforcement agencies as well as representation in theEuropean Court of Human Rights.

Representativesof the Prosecutor General’s Office note that the international legalcooperation is the present-day key area of activity, as to solve the urgentproblems, in particular, to return stolen assets from abroad one requiresprompt and high-quality solutions. Toimprove the organization of prosecution of Ukraine in the field ofinternational cooperation and to bring it closer to the European standards, theGeneral Department for International Legal Cooperation was established as aresult of reorganization.
