Report for the nine months of 2013
In the reporting period ASTARTA increased consolidated revenues by 11% to 260 million EUR.
Sugar segment
During nine months ASTARTA sold 269 thousand tonnes of sugar (+13% y-o-y). At the same time, average sugar selling price was 8% below prior year's level thus enabling only 4% increase in the segment’s revenues. Exports of sugar provided 9% of total sugar sales and grew 16% y-o-y in volume terms. As of this date, ASTARTA's sugar plants produced more than 170 thousand tonnes of high quality white sugar securing strong leading position of the Company in the Ukrainian sugar market.
Agriculture segment
Сrop sales in volume terms increased 6% y-o-y. About 370 thousand tonnes of crops were sold which lifted segment's revenues by 19%. 49% of crops was exported. Harvesting of most crops is successfully completed with yields substantially higher than average Ukrainian benchmarks and significantly above last year's results.
Dairy farming segment
Dairy farming segment demonstrated solid operational and financial performance. Milk output increased 6% y-o-y and amounted to 70 thousand tonnes. Milking cows' headcount increased to 15.5 thousand heads. Current solid milk market provides good foundation for further development of ASTARTA's dairy. To further unlock its potential the Company is currently commissioning a first phase of a modern heifer farm for 5000 heads.
New projects
ASTARTA is running starting-up and adjustment works at the Globino soy processing plant and Bioenergy complex. Theirs first production will be delivered in the fourth quarter.
