On 23 April 2012 SCM Group presented its Social Partnership Programme and launched a new Internet resource – a sustainable development portal.

SCM’s Social Partnership Programme comprises the Group’s initiatives focused on developing social infrastructure, business environment as well as projects in education, health and safety, environment, energy efficiency, culture and sports.

In 2011 SCM invested around UAH 100m in social projects and the Group’s biggest industrial holdings, Metinvest and DTEK, accounted for most of the amounts – UAH 69.28m and 25.34m, respectively.

In 2012 SCM Group is going to allocate at least UAH 170m to realise projects within the social partnership programme.

On 23 April 2012 SCM Group presented its new Internet resource – a sustainable development portal, which will cover all the information about the Group’s CSR activities.

The Director of Public Relations and Communications of SCM Natalia Yemchenko and PR Directors of the Group’s largest industrial holdings (Metinvest and DTEK) Igor Kirilyuk and Aleksandr Tolkach spoke at the event. Petr Kurlyak, the mayor of Burshtyn town, was a guest speaker who talked about the experience of cooperation with DTEK under the Social Partnership Programme.

“We are aware of the impact SCM Group has on its local communities, so we made investments in their development a part of our business strategy. We understand well that to want to work well the Group’s employees need, first of all, to live well. This is not only about salary as SCM Group’s salaries are several times higher than Ukraine’s average. This is also about the realities our employees face in everyday life: if the cities and towns where they live are well-developed, if they are happy with their houses, if the public transport they use meets the current standards, what level of medical care they get at local hospitals. All of these factors definitely affect people’s wish and ability to work and do a good job. Therefore, social partnership projects are a part and parcel of SCM Group’s programme of sustainable development,” commented Natalia Yemchenko, SCM Director of Public Relations and Communications.
