Sergiy Shklyar reelected to the Public Council under the Antimonopoly Committee

On February 25, 2013 Sergiy Shklyar, attorney-at-law, Ph.D., President of the Association for Resistance to Unfair Competition (ARUC), Founding Partner of Arzinger Law Office, was re-elected Board member for a term of two years in the constituent assembly that established the Public Council under the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU). The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Committee’s State Commissioner Mykhaylo Rusynsky.
Sergiy Shklyar has been member of the Public Council at the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine since January 2011. In particular, he headed the Public Council’s Committee on Unfair Competition with the highest membership. Besides, he took an active part in the work of the Committee on Financial Markets.
“Working in the Public Council has proved an effective tool for the interaction of business with public authorities in the framework of developing fair competition in Ukraine and combatting unfair competition. For our part, we have an additional opportunity to make the challenges faced by business and society in terms of competition clear for the Antimonopoly Committee, and to give our suggestions on the development of competition law. At the same time, the AMCU receives our strong support and professional assistance of experts in the field of competition in the exercise of their functions for the development and regulation of a fair competitive environment in Ukraine,” Sergiy Shklyar noted.
Sergiy Shklyar is a recognized expert on competition law, public procurement, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, consumer protection, and dispute resolution, including those related to unfair competition. He obtained his Ph.D. on the thesis “Protection of Rights and Interests of entities in legal relations with the bodies of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.” Mr. Shklyar is also co-author of the monograph “Competition Law: Protection from Unfair Competition.” He was awarded honorary diploma by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for the promotion of fair competition customs in business, and for achievements and significant contribution to the development of competition and fair competition rules in Ukraine.
