The Law On Occupied Territory came into force

The Law “On provision of rightsand freedoms of citizens in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine”(hereinafter – the “Law”) was signed by the Interim President and came intoforce on 27 April 2014.
As we mentioned before*, the Law imposes a specific legal regime for theterritory of Crimea and Sevastopol city. It envisages that:
• All transactions in respect of real estate concluded in violation ofUkrainian legislation will be considered invalid from the moment of theirconclusion.
• Peculiarities of conducting economic activity on the territory of Crimeashall be governed by a separate law (this law will be introduced shortly).
• Ukrainian citizens will have an unlimited right to enter and leave the territoryof Crimea. However, foreigners and stateless persons may only enter and leavethe territory of Crimea via checkpoints, upon receipt of a special permit.
