Ukraine International Airlines increased traffic by 15% in 2018, carrying more than 8 million passengers. The share of transfer passengers on UIA’s scheduled flights was 53%.
During this period UIA operated 61.5 thousand flights which is 9% more compared to 2017. The load factor was 81% last year. UIA mail and cargo traffic reached 21 348 tons an increase of 12% compared to 2017.
In 2018 the airline extended its international flight network and launched scheduled flights between Kiev and Copenhagen, Cairo, Delhi and Toronto. UIA’s domestic network was increased to include Kiev-Vinnytsia flight.
Since the beginning of 2018, UIA continued with its fleet renewal and extension program taking delivery of another seven aircraft: three long haul Boeing 777-200ER and four modern Boeing 737-800 planes, three of which arrived directly from the manufacturer’s facilities in Seattle.
“In 2018 UIA continues to follow its strategy and develop as a network carrier. Long haul route network extension as well as the widebody fleet extension let us make one more step to increase of transit traffic via Ukraine and further hub development at Boryspil International Airport, - Evgeniya Satska, UIA Communications Director noted. – Deployment of a new aircraft type provided new opportunities not only in passenger transportation but also in cargo transportation field for our country. This year UIA will continue to develop as a network carrier helping Ukraine to fully use its transit potential”.
