Ukrainian technical standards will be amended in accordance with European rules

On 30 December 2014, theMinistry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine (the “Ministry”) passed Order No. 1493 On Adoption of European and InternationalRegulations as Ukraine National Standards, Amendments to National Standards ofUkraine and the Abolition of National Standards of Ukraine (“Order No. 1493”). The text of Order No.1493 was published on the official web site of the Ministry on 5 January 2015.
According to Order No. 1493,starting from January 1 2016, European and international technical standards(regulations) will be used in Ukraine instead of existing national technicalstandards as Order No. 1493 amends and cancels certain national standards.
Under Order No. 1493, theDepartment of Technical Regulation and Metrology is obliged to publish thenational standards of Ukraine that are to be amended. Most of them deal withthe development, implementation and support of automated information systems(e.g. methods of protection, digital signature, processes of life circle of thesystems, electronic trading etc.)
At the same time, thesubstance of the changes should be developed and announced to the public by thenational standardisation body (the "Ukrainian Research and Training Centreof Standardisation, Certification and Quality Problems") during 2015.
The changes are taking placein accordance with the Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement, which wasratified by the Parliament on 16 September 2014.
