On 15 November 2013 Vitaly Kasko, Partner at Arzinger Law Office, spoke at the international expert and practical conference in Astana dedicated to the discussion of the draft of the new Criminal Procedural Code of Kazakhstan.

Vitaly shared his experience in preparation and practical application of provisions from the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine regulating powers of defence counsels in criminal proceedings and ensuring proper guarantees for the equality of the parties to the proceedings. He pointed out the difficulties which attorneys had during the first year of the application of the new Code in Ukraine and commented on ways to overcome them. Authors of the draft code and members of the Parliament of Kazakhstan present at the conference thanked the experts from Ukraine for their comments and suggestions to the draft of the Criminal Procedural Code of Kazakhstan.
