6 January 2015 — Dentons released its third Global Social Impact report, an annual collection of the Firm's work in communities around the world.

"As the world's first and only polycentric firm, our in and of the community approach is central to who we are," Elliott Portnoy, Global CEO and Joe Andrew, Global Chairman, state in the report.  "Our commitment to pursue justice and work to alleviate hardship by partnering with our local communities, and the nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and nonprofits that serve them, has expanded as our Firm's footprint has grown in 2015."

The report highlights only a fraction of the Firm's efforts.  In 2015, Dentons' lawyers provided more than 75,000 hours of pro bono counsel, and our lawyers, professionals and staff collaborated with more than 300 NGOs and nonprofits across the globe.

"Corporate social responsibility is an intrinsic part of Dentons' positive and forward-thinking culture," explains Ben Weinberg, Pro Bono Partner.  "Our pro bono work not only contributes to our professional development and our lawyers' and other professionals' desire to make a lasting and positive impact on their communities, but also reinforces our entrepreneurial approach to solving problems in today's complex world."

Chief Executive Officer for Europe Tomasz DÄ…browski commented, “Dentons is committed to making a meaningful contribution to our communities in Europe.  We recently launched an ambitious pro bono program and some early successes include litigating in a landmark freedom-of-speech case in Warsaw, and supporting Droits d’Urgence, the largest legal aid organization in France.  We are active in the global debate on important social issues, such as environmental sustainability and human rights. A great example was our participation in the COP21 summit on climate change.  We have made a great start and are looking forward to accelerating our efforts in the coming year.”

In 2016, we look forward to leveraging our expansion into new regions and growth in our existing regions to expand our involvement with organizations, clients and one another to make an even greater impact.
