National Innovation Projects,
Kyiv, Ukraine, Fri, March 23, 2018
The introduction of the agricultural land market in Ukraine will create a strong middle class in the countryside, according to the ministry
According to Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Olena Kovaleva, implementation of the land market will allow for strong farming in Ukraine. The official stated this at a World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty in Washington. Kovaleva noted that Ukraine currently has a moratorium on land sales, but the government is working on infrastructure development for the future land market.
In particular, a monitoring system was implemented. The system of the State Land Cadastre is now backed by Blockchain technology. It makes land fraud impossible. In addition, Ukraine has a system for online registration of land leases and land plots. Kovaleva also reported on the beginning of transferring land to territorial communities.
«The purpose of the reform is not just selling, even at the most competitive prices, but the creation of strong and sustainable farming in Ukraine. We have directed significant state support to small and medium-sized producers because the welfare of rural areas depends on their development,» said Olena Kovaleva at the conference in Washington.
