Washington, D.C. -- Following the recent passing of Morgan Williams, President and CEO of USUBC, the Executive Committee of USUBC unanimously voted on Friday, June 21, 2024, to appoint Irina Paliashvili, a member of the Executive Committee, as Acting President to fulfill the remaining term of the current presidency. She will begin her tenure on July 1, 2024, and serve through the end of the 2024 calendar year.

Irina Paliashvili has been an integral part of the USUBC governance team, having been consistently reelected to the Executive Committee by USUBC members for more than twenty years. She also serves as Chair of the USUBC Legal Committee, supporting legal and judicial reforms, advocating for the rule of law, and promoting private sector development.

Most recently, Ms. Paliashvili initiated the launch of the USUBC Legal Series webinars, offering members exclusive insights into the most pressing legal issues related to doing business in Ukraine.

Ms. Paliashvili is also known for her active volunteering and pro-bono work, focusing on an Accountability and Justice agenda, as well as promoting Ukrainian culture and art.

The Executive Committee and Team of USUBC congratulate Irina on this new appointment and wish her success in leading USUBC through this transition period!

Eric Luhmann, Chair of the USUBC Executive Committee, said: “Upon appointing Irina at the USUBC Executive Committee meeting, it was noted by several members of this governance body that there are few candidates so familiar with the internal and external workings of USUBC and with the mission and goals of the council as championed so tirelessly by Morgan Williams over the past two decades.”

Irina Paliashvili said after being elected: “I was blessed by having served USUBC alongside Morgan for more than twenty years, and for counting him as my mentor and friend, sharing his absolute commitment and passion for USUBC and for his adopted country of Ukraine.  It is an honor for me to accept the responsibility of leading USUBC in this critical moment, and I am deeply grateful to the USUBC Executive Committee for their trust.

In this new capacity I look forward to continuing working with the Executive Committee, its Chair Eric Luhmann, Treasurer Greg Fishman, and USUBC’s brilliant staff in Washington, D.C. and Kyiv for the benefit of our membership. Morgan has left the organization in its top form, with more than 220 members, with the packed agenda full of events, programs and future plans. Together, we will do our best to honor and to ensure continuity of Morgan’s legacy.  In his legendary words: Full Speed Ahead!”
