Metinvest Group supports the cities and towns of its operations to help Ukraine fight against the virus pandemic of the 21st century. The company invests UAH 10 million in creation of a childcare centre for infectious diseases in Mariupol at the facilities of Ivan Matsuk City Hospital No. 4. In the event of a large-scale infection outbreak the centre will admit both children and adults.
Mariupol will soon have a regional centre employing the best professionals and equipped with the most precise diagnostics and life-saving equipment. The 40-bed second infectious disease ward of City Hospital No. 4 will be overhauled with the support of Metinvest Group and Mariupol Development Fund (MDF).
The works will commence shortly and be complete in autumn. The plan is to renovate the ward interior, change the layout to accommodate the cubicles, install new ventilation and air conditioning, replace utilities, repair roofing and faces of the building, and install a fire protection system.
The City Hospital No. 4 provides care to 100,000 children of southern region of Donetsk Oblast, Mariupol, Manhushsky, Nikolsky and Boykivsky districts. A 125-bed regional centre at the hospital will allow to promptly respond to the infectious disease outbreaks. The centre will have an ICU providing professional medical aid 24/7. In 2018, Azovstal Iron and Steel Works invested UAH 8 million in renovation of a 35-bed hospital facility and 6-bed emergency unit, while the city authorities procured the equipment and supplies for UAH 8 million.
MDF and Metinvest Group are reliable social partners of Mariupol. This partnership fostered many projects, particularly in public health. Our consolidated efforts have helped Mariupol create a state-of-the-art childcare diagnostics centre (built at the facilities of City Hospital No. 3) and a cardiology centre which already saves lives, and repair the wards of City Hospitals No. 1 and No. 4. Successful projects were also delivered in education and city infrastructure improvement.
Metinvest Group CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov:
"We have always helped solve issues which are important to the country and our fellow citizens. Today, we are going to do everything we can as well. Apart from ensuring that our businesses continue to run uninterrupted and provide jobs, pay taxes and support Ukraine's economy, which directly relies on them, we are going to support the healthcare system. A single regional childcare centre for infectious diseases in Donetsk Oblast is acutely required. Our investment of around UAH 10 million is our contribution towards the future, the accessibility of the quality and modern healthcare in Ukraine."
