On July 8 – USUBC hosted an influential group of our Members, Partners, Senior Advisors and senior government representatives of the Unites States and Ukraine for the USUBC Members and Senior Advisors Welcome Dinner at the historic Palazzo Colonna in Rome. 

The event opened with the welcome remarks by Irina Paliashvili, USUBC President & CEO and keynote remarks by Oleksii Sobolev, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, followed with the discussion moderated by Eric Luhmann, Chair of the USUBC Executive Committee. The discussion was led by the USUBC Senior Advisors: Anders ÅslundAmb. John Herbst, Natalie Jaresko, Anna Kovalenko and Amb. Kurt Volker, and focused on the key priorities in Ukraine’s recovery and transatlantic business engagement. 

Among the distinguished guests were Oleksiy Sobolev, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Tetiana Korotka, Deputy Business Ombudsman of Ukraine, USUBC Executive Committee members Lev Holubec (PwC), Michael Kirst (EuroAtlantic Partners), Eric Luhmann (Chair) and Greg Fishman (Secretary/Treasurer), Burak Pehlivan and Emre Karaahmetoğlu, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Turkish Ukrainian Business Association. Also in attendance were Italian and European geopolitical, legal and economic experts contributing a valuable European perspective to the discussion.

A special highlight of the evening was the performance by the Cultural Forces – a group of Ukraine’s defenders who are also professional musicians, and who use their talent to share Ukrainian culture and resilience through music, poetry, and storytelling. Their repertoire, featuring the traditional Ukrainian bandura, captivated the audience with a mix of classical pieces and powerful contemporary arrangements.
