MEETING WITH BUSINESS OMBUDSMAN ALGIRDAS SEMETA

U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC)  hosted a Business Roundtable meeting with Business Ombudsman in Ukraine Algirdas Semet on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

Combating corruption in Ukraine has become increasingly urgent because of the impact it is having on the willingness of companies to invest in the country. With the setting up of the Business OmbudsmanCouncil, www.boi.org.ua, Ukraine has taken an important step forward towards the improvement of its investment climate.

The Business Ombudsman Council is meant to be the first point of contact for companies seeking redress against unfair treatment. The new institution provides for greater transparency of business practices in Ukraine.

The Business Ombudsman Council (BOC), www.boi.org.ua, is funded through the Multi-donor Account for Ukraine set up at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in 2014. The donors of the Multi-donor Account for Ukraine include Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

USUBC was very fortunate to have this opportunity for members to meet with the Business Ombudsman in Ukraine to discuss combating corruption and the work of the Business Ombudsman Council as the first point of contact for companies seeking redress against unfair treatment.
